Signs and Symptoms

Diagnosing dyslexia can often be difficult but they are some early signs to look for. Thanks to research there are some common warning signs to look for. You must take into consideration that not all people have the same abilities and disabilities therefore these are only ones to take into consideration.

In preschool children who have difficulty paying attention, sitting still and listening to stories can be linked to numerous things including a possible sign of dyslexia. A few examples of warning signs are difficultly learning a nursery rhyme, difficultly listening to stories, shows no interest in letters or words, forgets the names of teachers, colors or friends and difficulty throwing, catching or kicking a ball.

Primary and Secondary level have easier signs in recognizing possible dyslexia those signs include some of the following poor written work compared with oral ability, confusion in letters such as b/d, p/g, n/u, m/w which lead to writing reversals, finds mental arithmetic difficult.
